Yesterday I walked out the front door of my apartment building and got about five steps before I stopped suddenly and realized…. I needed a scarf! For the first time since early Spring, I had an urge to don knits out of necessity. What a wonderful day it was! The second time I walked out the front door I savored the chill and ended up spending much more time out in the city than I have in quite some time.
The arrival of Fall this week (not on the calendar, but in feel) seemed like the perfect timing too, since we’ve been working hard behind the curtain to bring you a collection of designs inspired by this time of year. I’m happy to share with you BT FALL 11, a collection of 16 handknitting patterns.

This season I’m joined by designers Leila Raabe and Michele Wang (you’ve seen work from both of them in our first issue of Wool People). About 6 months ago, I approached each of these women to see if they’d be interested in coming together with me to form an official In-House Design Team at BT. To my great delight, they each accepted and the three of us have been happily collaborating on knitwear ever since!

Though we’ve been at it for a while now, we’re thrilled to be releasing our first group of designs as a team, just in time for the changing of the leaves. As with Wool People, we’ve put together a Look Book for the collection in hopes of giving you a pleasurable aesthetic introduction to the work. You can view it in the space below (click “expand” to view the full-screen version) or on our web site. If you’d like to download a free PDF copy to take along with you on your laptop, tablet, or device, you can get that here.
We were wooed by all sorts of surface texture as we were designing these patterns. We also wanted to make use of Shelter’s rich palette of Autumn, and create projects of all sizes and time-commitments. We hope there’s something in it for everyone to enjoy – happy Fall!

I can’t decide which is more striking … the photography or the patterns. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Always inspiring. Thank you.
I want to knit every non-hat pattern in this lookbook. Wow. I love your design esthetic.
Not since your “made in brooklyn” from a few years ago have I longed to make every pattern in a single book…
Thank you, Jared, for always inspiring, and always sharing….
This collaboration is incredible. Thank you for sharing all that talent with us. The patterns and yarn color choices are quintessential Fall. Can’t wait to get started.
Thank you so much for the wool that you sent me. I just love the colours, shared it with my sister who was eyeing up the green and the cream.
It was so kind of you.
thank you .

What a terrific collection! Wool weather in Phoenix is a way off yet, but I have fallen completely in love with the entire collection!
I am on a high from all the wooly goodness. Beautifull as always. I might just have to get ALL the patterns! I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this, but would you consider doing a printed version as well? It would take pride of place on my bookshelf. : )
Beautiful and aesthetic as always! I have my eyes on Tinder… The seasons start to turn here as well and this part of the year is my absolute favourite. Bring on autumn!
Stunning! Beautiful! Needed and wanted!!
Everything you touch is beautiful! Congratulations once again!

I kept clicking through the pages going “I want to make that, and that, and that, and that!” Knit caps off to you and your collaborators. The patterns are just LOVELY.
These designs are beautiful. I would love to see the yarn and designs available in my local knitting store. Any chance of making your patterns/yarns available locally?
Wow. thanks for reblogging that. Some of those patterns are really pretty. I don’t often like to buy PDF patterns – to add the cost of printing them so I can actually use them makes them quite expensive. But I might just be tempted with these.
Very nice designs with lots of texture!! I may consider knitting a couple of the designs.
Congratulations! I feel like I am watching the birth of a yarn empire.

are there errata yet for the sleeves on Ranger?
Just started following your blog ~ tho I’ve known about you for forever ~ and I’m loving each and every one of your patterns for the fall. Thanks so much for sharing yourself in this wonderful and creative way.
Is it possible to purchase the whole book for a lower price? I’d like to knit many of the patterns but it gets a little too expensive to buy them all separately. Lovely photographs too. I really wish this would be available as a printed book.
