At Brooklyn Tweed HQ we always laugh to ourselves a bit about summer knitting. When all the seasonal publications are touting cotton and linen yarns and beach-appropriate knitwear designs, we find ourselves still knitting away with our wool, year in and year out. Since we know we aren’t alone in this religious use of wool, we figured why let fall and winter have all the fun? Why not do something for the devout wool-lovers of summer?

It’s hard to believe that our third issue of Wool People is already here. Ever since launching our first issue last August we have had such a great time working with knitwear designers from around the globe for this series. While design work from our in-house design team is constantly under way, it’s fun and refreshing to get a chance to exchange input and ideas from a broader range of creative folks. The finished collections always feel like a secret that slowly reveals itself over the months from concept to production. You never know exactly how everything will come together until the end, which keeps the anticipation and excitement strong even from this side of the curtain.

For this collection, we envisioned something clean and airy that focused on lightweight layering pieces and a summery palette of neutral heathers. We asked designers to think about soft, clean and wearable garments that would utilize Loft’s airy fabrics and tonal color range. The designers rose to the occasion and brought together a collection that is both diverse and cohesive. We really love what everyone came up with!

As has become customary for the launch of a new collection, we’ve indulged ourselves a bit with a lusciously photographed Look Book – it’s the best way to get a feel for the range of the collection which features a total of 17 designs. You can view the Look ook in fullscreen mode by clicking “Expand” below. Remember that when viewing full screen, you can click anywhere on a page to zoom in further to read text or have a closer look at design details. If you’d like to download a free copy of the Look Book PDF for viewing on your tablet or smart phone, just click here.

While the collection focuses primarily on garments – there are a handful of smaller-dose projects as well: hats, shawls, wraps and scarves. We like variety in our own knitting basket, so bring that same mentality to the table when putting together a collection roster.

Thanks to everyone for supporting our last two issues of Wool People and making #3 a possibility. We feel fortunate to continue exploring and refining our designer-friendly model of publishing, which hasn’t changed since our first round – Wool People designers receive a portion of every sale for the lifetime of their pattern, no matter what. We think this is important and allows designers to be compensated fairly for this highly specialized type of work. Don’t forget to check out our “Meet the Designers” section at the back of the Look Book to read about our talented contributors!
Happy summer knitting to all and enjoy the patterns!

I think the collection is stunning! If I were a woman… I miss men’s garments…
Congratulations to all of you !
LOVE the blueprints at the end… it’s wonderful to get gauge requirements and schematics all in one place! Photography, as usual, is stunning.
Look book is wonderful as are the designs and designers. I especially like the pattern blueprints since I like to look “under the hood” at the construction of the piece, not always apparent by the modeling. Thank you for this thoughtful and thorough publication. A nice way to start my knitting day!
When will you design garments for Men again? Should Wool People 4 be for Mens designs?
Brilliant. Yet again. You never cease to impress!
Give me another life please to knit all of these very beautiful garments. Such style, such class. Such classy wool. Just looking at them makes one feel comfortable and elegant. Thank you for all your work.
Gorgeous with a capital “G”!
This is my favorite collection so far. Some of the lovely designs really seem to speak to my body type.
Once again you’ve come up trumps with stylish, extremely wearable items. More hours in the day required though.
Beautiful designs..thank you for the blueprints with so much information. You have raised the bar for designers…thank you so much for doing so. I am especially taken with the Reine Cardigan… sigh.
Just fantastic. I especially like the summer wraps and small accessories. Perfect for PNW summer weather.
Gorgeous!
Congratulations!
Beautiful! as always but I was looking for some Jared designs. Hopefully next time.
I love the Look Books you put up, and love what you’re doing – from collaborating designers to creating your yarns. The designs you’ve inspired are wonderful, and I love wooly people being brought together around wool and making awesome wool designs. What I don’t love, I must confess, is what you’ve done with your blog… whomever it is that writes it, now. I started reading years ago when it was Jared and it was personal. Now I have no idea who writes it and there’s no personal connection. The blog posts are filled with “we” and are written in a very formal, cold, corporate manner. It’s very much a turnoff, and I hope you can change this aspect. As a consumer, as well as a knitter, if I don’t relate to the person creating something I’m considering buying, it’s just another purchase to weigh against so many others. if I feel I have a connection with the creator, they get a lot of additional weight.
Thought you should know. Good luck with your #3.
Outdone yourselves once again. Keep ‘em coming!
Love the collection and love the blue print section. Can’t wait to order a couple of these!
Looking at these designs, I was struck with a thought: It is a great era to be a knitter! We live in a time filled with talented designers and beautiful yarns. Bravo once again to a job well done. Now I am off to knit, knit, knit…. : ))
Absolutely stunning collection – so many versatile designs. I want to make them all! Beautiful, Jared.
Just what I’ve been waiting for! I’ve been coveting the Postcard color in Loft and have been hoping for just the right lightweight cardi pattern to be released. Now to decide which one to knit!!!
Hi hi, just today I bought wool – feeling a bit “hey, it’s summertime-what am I doing”
The patterns are SO beautiful. Thank you so very much for this download.
Best wishes
tina
whilst i love your designs, including this latest collection, i take issue with your negative appraisal of “season publications” & “summer knitting”
100% wool might be perfect year-round for milder climates or downright cold ones, but i suspect you aren’t sitting in an un-airconditioned apartment covered in wool projects when the traditional august heat wave hits new york.
personally, living in texas, where today’s temp is topping 108 in the shade, cottons and linens are not only pleasant – they’re necessary. and while i may not opt for knitting myself a beach bikini out of them, they’re certainly a perfect choice for everything from drapey work-ready blouses to easy-to-pack dishtowels & shawls.
of course i understand that your line doesn’t offer a cotton or linen option yet, and so your business requires that you nudge people towards wool whenever possible. but there’s certainly no need to discount the beauty and the usefulness of the “other” world of fibers.
Wow!
Gorgeous!
Simply stunning.
Still waiting for more Jared patterns. Please.
Beautiful designs! And, I am very happy to see so many seamless / 1piece garments. Thanks…..
Thank you SO much for making the shapes of the sweaters easier to see by including the ‘pattern blueprint’ section. The photos you use are beautiful, but it’s not always easy to tell how a garment will look on my body when I can’t tell what shape it is. Including the pattern blueprints section makes it much easier for me to choose the patterns that will best flatter me. Thanks!
BRAVO!!!

Agree with Slavi, Beautiful work but I miss men’s pattern too
Hello,
Just a question : WHERE is it possible to buy your books in France?
I would like to buy the 3 books, so I like your designs…
Thanks for your response
I think the new collection is wonderful! Maybe next time you could use less confusing words, it seems that some people are confused. I notice that some people have confused “guest designers” with “you”, and others have confused “Wool People” with “things that are not wool”. Also, maybe you could break into people’s homes and read their dream logs to find out exactly what they want? Glad to see most people have something nice to say, but there will always be some crazy lady with 6 cats and internet access who has to complain about something between taking trips to the fridge and voting on American Idol. Well done, can’t wait to see more.
Ageism and misogyny in the same sentence. Rod, are you sure you can’t come up with one more insult for the hat trick?
Lovely patterns – lovely book – how about some things for us ample folks – both women and men.
Gorgeous collection.

Beaautiful work, but I agree with Kelly H. The use of ‘we’ is especially distant-sounding.
I’m sorry if I offended anyone (Meredith) who took time out of their busy schedules to rain on the parade of a creative person who is trying to produce something for people to enjoy, I’ll be the first to admit that it’s always easier to say something while hiding behind a keyboard, assuming that your cat isn’t in the way. I assure you that I am not guilty of ageism, as I treat cats of all ages the same. As far as a misogynist, I believe that the U.S. Census Bureau recently released data confirming that the ratio of crazy cat women to cat men was 8,262:1. If any crazy cat men would also like to complain about petty things just to make someone feel bad, please shut your pie-holes as well. Jared, ignore the whiners and keep up the good work. -R.P.
So many beautiful designs! I love looking through the look book, it is stunning.
Wool People never, ever disappoints…beautiful! I never stop using wool either, no matter what the season:)
